I am in a state of despair and feeling broken, hopeless and sorry for myself and barely hanging by the thread. Carrying on with an empty soul but I am still grateful for some things in my life. To sum up all messed up, lmao but won’t get into detail will spare your sanity.

I feel anxious with my workload and the thought of returning to the office for work. I question my son’s attitude toward rebelling instead of listening at age 9 and his addiction towards video games and devices. I feel happy that the school year is almost over and my boys will soon be able to relax.

Sorry for myself. Broken and hopeless. Hanging by the thread. Walking on a tight rope. But I am still grateful for some things in my life.

Please find someone in whom you can confide, perhaps a counselor if there is no one in your life right now who can fill that role. ❤

There’s tiredness and physical discomfort and also I’m listening to a chorus of stunning birdsong and seeing the deep blue, still bay and the hills beyond in the morning light.

Introspective. I had a bad mental health day yesterday and the kind of day, today, that 1-year-ago-me would have drank after. I’m grateful for my sobriety and grateful for the ability to see past this moment.

Hang in there, Greg. Perhaps listening to some of the wonderful recordings on this site may give you some relief. Sleep, food, water… it is always good to check if there are things you need… sometimes we forget basic self-care and it amplifies our feelings. The morning will bring a new day. Take good care of yourself, and our thoughts will be with you.

Oh, Greg, please know my heart and prayers are with you. Remember, despair and hopelessness are only temporary visitors and will eventually leave. The best advice I ever received about dealing with my grief and loss was that grief and loss will be frequent visitors. Make them your best friends and then tell them their visit is over for right now and good-by. Start each day with a grateful heart- for just one little thing and let that little thing fill you up all day long.

Pretty good. Had a beautiful walk this morning. Sunny, birds singing, beautiful views. A good day at school and now cosy at home, working. Little twinge of worry about what I still have to do tonight but trying to ignore it and just feel the moment!

Better than yesterday, as yesterday I was so frustrated with the hospital at which my mom was admitted, that it was that itchy-unsettled feeling all day.
    I never shook it.
Today I am back to a normal baseline and wanting some quiet meditation time:)

Enjoying my wife chatting with our nearly five year old great grandson.
He was watching youtube like most other kids do for hours on end, and my wife told him to stop and write some letters. So right now he is writing and repeating the letter “n”.
Mind you, through youtube kids tend to learn too. Suffices to say that when his grandfather some months ago called for the kid and I, in our language told his grandfather to ask him whether the kid has been a good boy the kid answered “Now that is a sticky question ” something which we definately did not teach him and neither has he heard it within the family.

Started my day with Chakra balancing. I find that energy work at the start of the day very uplifting. Just put on the coffee pot. Errands to run and a chiropractic appointment to keep today. Will buy a couple of plants to pot while I’m out and about.

I’ve put out all the bird feeders and the suet … we take them in at night or bears come by and pull them down and break them to get into the seed or suet. I’ve seen one of the wild rabbits feeding on grass (at least it’s green and grass-like!) in the back of the house. So the routine of that and getting out into the fresh air (and sun this morning too!) feeds my soul and sets me in my proper place for the day.

It sounds beautiful, Patricia! A chair outdoors to sit in the early morning would make it heaven on earth!

My sleep has been irregular lately and I woke at 4 this morning unable to go back to sleep, but that’s okay. I got my coffee and I have been watching the sun come up and learning a few things, and I’m looking forward to the day and the work I have planned.

I have another Mr. Hopeful update already! Yesterday morning I went back to the kitchen and saw out the window that one of the baby birds was hanging upside down, and TETHERED by the ankle, tangled in a bit of plastic string that Mrs. Hopeful had put in the nest. Poor Junior was panicked. I grabbed my shoes and a pair of scissors and went out in my nightie quick as I could. There was no option, I had to catch the chick (the string was about 14 inches long and he was fluttering wildly and squawking), I folded his wings and put him head first into the hole of the nesting box with his one leg still out so I could cut the string, then I pulled out as much of the string from the nest as I could. It looked like a bit of string from reinforced packing tape like you might see on an Amazon box, so it never would have broken! The chick might have a permanent ankle bracelet, but he should be fine now.

I went back into the house. Mama and baby were talking to each other but mama wouldn’t go near the nest. After about 40 minutes she started doing fly-bys to check out the nest to see if it was safe. She did three of those and then was gone for a few minutes and came back with food and started feeding her chicks again!

I saw Junior stick his head way out of the nest again. He is always hungry and getting more curious about the bigger world. I think they may be venturing out of the nest within the week.

Mind your trash, folks, be sure to pick it up! Plastic is bad.

    Have a nice day everyone!

Thank you Holly for helping that little helpless bird! As far as sleep goes. I get up around 4:30 when my cat wakes me to eat and open the windows so he could watch and listen to the birds. When I don’t resist I do qi gong exercise and then go back to bed. I will try to stay up tomorrow and make the best of it. Early morning exercise would be better for me than going back to bed and my body would thank me since I put on weight during the pandemic. If I stay up and start an early routine I could go to the pool when it opens at 8:30 in time for the senior swim instead of sleeping in till 10. I’ve wanted to do that last year but could not get up and out of the house. I think I would be better off and the depression that’s creeping in might not get worse. That’s me. I hope you find what works for you. I’m glad you caught the sunrise and cleared your head. This pandemic has caused sleep problems and added stress for most people. Mind Space is on Netflicks if you have it and addresses sleep problems as well as many free apps on google, pandora etc. that help prepare the body and mind for restful sleep. I hope you find the best solution for you and your needs are met soon. Also check out Louise Hay AM and PM meditations. When I was working I used her every day when going through menopause and other sleep problems. You can find her on u tube.

Thank you, Toni. You know I found your comment the other day about trying just five minutes very helpful, and I have started walking again! I’m sure that will help me to sleep and feel better, too. Baby steps… like you said…just start slowly and build a habit.

Thank you, Holly. You’ve made my day! Reminds me of the Mourning Doves that nested in a hanging planter on my front porch for several years when I lived in Louisiana. They grew to trust me totally and I could walk right up to the nest and talk to them. Mourning Doves mate for life and Daddy Dove used to perch on the roof of my neighbor’s house across our mutual driveway and watch Mama and his babies. Mama always lays two eggs at a time and does it several times each year between February and September in the climate of the deep south. Hope your sleep patterns improve. Adequate sleep is so very important.

I love mourning doves, too! We had a pair build a nest in our garage this year in the rafters… it is a very old garage. 🙂

Oh thank goodness she went back and started feeding again! And you saved a bird! (One of my biggest contributions to the world, I think, is when I can save a bird….) Blessings on nestlings everywhere.

Awake, doing my daily readings and meditation to get my thoughts back in line to the now and not the past. Last night was the second night where I woke up lying in bed and my mind was ruminating about things that happened. I find it always difficult in the middle of the night to refocus my thoughts but eventually focusing on my breathing works and I am able to fall back Asleep…. may I be kind and compassionate to myself and others today and always..

I’m craving the sashimi with soy sauce I had from the Korean market I had in my city. I’m also craving the seafood tofu soup I’ve gotten from the local Korean restaurant. I’m also conflicted about my purpose and standing, in regards to my views about my role in the world. I realize how being alone & struggling, at times, can make me into the type of lost and emotional person I currently am. But, luckily I’m alive!

Perhaps you are being just a tad bit hard on yourself? We are ALLOWED to be emotional. It certainly is better than not feeling anything or suppressing feelings. You will figure things out, Luna. Just be patient, and be kind to yourself.
