I had a couple of fun conversations with other residents of my condo today while out walking with my guinea pig. It felt good, and they both seemed to quite enjoy the conversations. And then I read today’s quote, and my conversations felt like tiny examples of this:

We need movements rooted in love right now, movements powered not by difference and exclusion and punishment, but by common ground, compassion, humility, healthy boundaries, patience and healing.

Just be kind. Smile at the person in line at the grocery store, the library, everywhere. Pay attention to the interactions each of our days offer–they are opportunities to share your wisdom, compassion and recognition of others.

Hmm, since I have no plans today other than watering my garden, practicing yoga, meditating and taking my dog for a walk, I can be open to the opportunities and then, if presented, respond with a grateful heart that an opportunity presented itself for me to be of service.

I will have many opportunities to “mingle” with folks today in various venues. I will be conscious of being present in the busyness of interaction. Some venues will be stressful, so I will respect and listen to other’s point of view.

Share my love for the natural world. Take my student outside the school for a walk around the block to look for robins with my binoculars!
Tour the community garden across from the school with my Kindergartners, to observe the abundance of plants and flowers.

At work I can be attuned to peoples plights when they call the office seeking help. More generally I can pay attention to people around me, listening not just hearing.

I have been listening to some love stories. The author says love is all about “YES”. I think I will be a YES.

Listen with compassion, offer words of comfort if needed, smile, sing to the nearby Lake and birds on my walk, be open to however Sophia moves me into other forms of action.
