I find meaning in every little thing that I do for this is the only way I can appreciate my life more. This is where gratitude can stem out. The moment we understand why things happen, the ripple effect of gratitude takes place.

    . . . the moment
when my soul connects with another,
    be it a smile,
    a gesture,
    a touch . . .

I find moments of heart opening and meaning in silence and when things get very hard, so hard, that I think I cannot handle what is coming at me, and then I do, and it’s my heart that allows this.

In moments of silence where there is no distraction. That seems to make some sense for me.

My heart finds meaning each and every day either through teaching or interacting with children. It also finds meaning through days of being home amongst the trees and nature. My heart needs to expand and find meaning in others areas of my life though. My heart needs to be at peace with my mind and my thoughts, if I can channel my thoughts and be at peace in my mind my heart can find much more meaning, and positive energy can flow freely through my heart.

When serving others daily or like recently, when I even could be of service during an acute heart attack of one of my friends; when being with dear ones; when cooking together; when reading something that opens my mind to awareness; when stillness opens; when meeting the eyes of a stranger, or friend, or loved one and for a moment, realizing the spark we share.

Those moments when I remember how blessed I truly am. As the single mother of a special needs child, life can often feel quite overwhelming. I try not to let that feeling govern me, but it is a struggle. However, the truly meaningful and magical moments are those when I take a step back and realize how lucky I am; how grateful I am for my son and for my supportive family.

When my dog puts his head in my lap to take a nap. When my husband pulls me over for a kiss. When a friend gives me a call.
When I can feel the trees send their vibrant love.

I am not sure my heart needs to find meaning. It just needs to be fully expressed.

When I can share my true thoughts and feelings with others and they feel safe to share with me. Also, in the giving and receiving of small kindnesses.

Not sure what this is supposed to mean, so I am not going to give a overly-spiritual lofty answer.
I am satisfied in my heart and mind, when I have interactions where there is real connection and an exchange that benefits both of us. As with my ESL students at school. For example, reading about Dr. King on Friday with my Ethiopian student, before the MLK Jr. holiday today, and then hearing him spontaineously share about what he learned with his classmates.

Or connecting again with a friend in the UK, who I have known since childhood, but been out of touch with during the tumult of this past pandemic year, and sharing how life has been for us…. very satisfying.

And always, always having my heart lifted by some aspect of nature when I go outside. Like yesterday, seeing to my delight, that the lake at the bottom of the hill was frozen into a sleek sheet of ice, and the neighborhood was out skating. I could hear the ice humming, and hear the calls of the young people and the sounds of the hockey sticks hitting the puck. Did my “heart find meaning?” My heart found delight, really.

My brain and gut like to throw around meaning like a ball, always playing “monkey in the middle” with my heart. So many neurons!

Ah yes – I’ve been moving my awareness to the brain [in a thought-less way] and away from the gut, and that seems to be helping.

When I truly live from my heart & believe from my best to ripple out to the world, whether I’m with others or on my own- that gives my heart meaning. As I face my worldly challenges, unfortunately fear can creep in to my atmosphere. But when I remember I come from Universal Light & Love and I want for good…’s so cool to feel pent up energies release, it feels like I’m being held in peace. That’s when even the mundane tasks can bring meaning from my heart. Reading Kristi N.’s words about grateful living…..looking at various as , “what I get to do”, rather than- what I have to do (thank you) it’s appreciated…..that assists with opening my heart to meaning as well.

Many moments, from personal to simple- when I see random acts of kindness or enjoy nature. Today, on what would have been Betty White’s 100th bday, my heart will find meaning when I eat a hotdog with a glass of vodka in her memory and make a donation to an animal shelter. RIP Betty – you were so loved by many.

Time spent reading the Bible and in prayer. Time with my grandkids, husband and dog. Quiet time alone. Time out in God’s creation.

Family gatherings. Conversations with my husband. Conversations with most people, actually. Snuggling with my pets. Watching them do their thing. Sitting and watching the ocean, the sunrise, or sunset.

Feels good thinking about those things!

When my children were born is the first thing that popped into my mind. Being with my grandchildren is another time my heart finds meaning. Out walking with our dog, helping people…there are so many ways!

My heart can find meaning in nearly every moment, or none at all, depending on the moment and where my head and heart are focused. Yet, every moment doesn’t need to have a meaning all its own. Some moments we just live in and live through, and doing so readies us for those meaningful moments that do come, that take our breath away, stops us in our tracks, brings us to tears, and opens new ways of seeing.
