After dedicating much of my teenage years and 20s to my work and career, I have finally allowed myself more time for self-care and fun.

I am on a new journey of self-care. Total self-care. Physical and Emotional well being. I am setting to a nightly routine and disconnecting from social media after journaling. In the morning I am trying to read and exercise. I am noticing that i am more productive during the day and READY to sleep. I am grateful it is going well as it is motivating. I have ready studies about productivity when you get up early and take time to wake up and start the day with intent. I am grateful for a husband who acknowledges that this transition is going to make me grumpy and conflict with his as well. I am grateful that he is supportive of me and has decided to join me on this journey.

I’ve been out of shape lately, but I was able to run at my 10K pace without stopping for about 2 miles during my workout today.

The winter sunrise today is a glory. I think the birds agreed. They all sang gleefully.

My morning “practice” is going well. Waking up grateful, listening to the birds, stepping outside for sunshine on my face, breathing deep, ringing my serenity bell, making coffee, writing in my morning journal, praying & spending time in meditation. Yoga and walking as the day progresses. I am grateful I have the time and space for this “practice”.

Right now, in this moment, all is well in my life. I have a safe home, I have the help I need and the quiet I need and migraine tablets(!). All my needs are fulfilled right now. Wow, how blessed I am!!

So many things! After an extended rainy spring we finally got a day of glorious warm sun on Solstice yesterday. I went for two long walks, one with my sweetheart, holding hands as we always do when we walk. We have good friends we can ride bikes with who enjoy sitting and chatting with a beverage and who live nearby so it’s easy to hang out spontaneously. My work is productive with a lot of past effort beginning to pay off in a big way that is going to make positive change in my entire state. My health is good and so is my husband’s. My daughters have people who love them and work they’re good at. I finally have traction in my planning for a much-needed kitchen remodel and–miracle of miracles–the appliances I want are actually in a nearby warehouse and will be delivered in 4 weeks. I just had a wonderful “sisters weekend” with my sister and sister-in-law and got to talk, laugh, eat, shop, drink, and explore a small town for 3 whole days, including going to their first-ever Pride parade and cheering. I am fortunate to feel so much goodness in my life these days.

Reversing the question, I have noticed that my daughter has consistently, for several months now, responsibly chosen the path of good health and wellness, including/related also a more positive outlook about “life”, and I am deeply grateful, and happy for and proud of her.

The choice came slowly as I read others reflections and looked about and within myself. A sense of being of the commons turns the tide.

I am grateful to be able to come back here, after a few days of staying away. I was exhausted. I am grateful for good health, regaining some energy, and this site to help me along on this path of life. And for all of you to walk with me along this path, first thing in the morning. And I am grateful for coffee in this very moment!

I notice that I am around people who genuinely care for me and want what’s best for me. I have all of my medicine, I have a safe home, food, and access to health care. I am going on a job interview today. I am healthy, and I am moving towards a new life. I am sober and I know that everything is always working out for me. My family is starting to come back in my life and at the very least interested in me and my well being. Some of my family is happy to hear from me and wants to hear from me.

My garden is finally starting to produce, and there are flowers in the flower corner. That makes me happy. Also, I’ve been in my new (old) role at work for the past two weeks, and my stress level has dropped tremendously. People have told me how I look happier. I didn’t realize I looked unhappy, but perhaps it was a matter of lightening my load so my light could properly shine. My YTT is progressing now that I have a better schedule, for which I am incredibly grateful!

I think the challenge, sunnypatti, is not going past the edge – Asokananda said there should be no pain when doing hatha. I like that. Enjoy!

Enjoy, sunnypatti 🙂 !! I attended a zoom, “Online Continuing Education Workshop: Playing the Edge w/ Swami Asokananda” last week, and Asokananda said to do Dhanurasana, and I put in the chat: “What’s Dhanurasana? It’s been a long time since I took IYI TT.” [It’s Bow Pose, as I learned by checking out Integral Yoga Hatha by Swami Satchidananda.] ‘The Edge’ is going into a pose just as far as you can go without pain – and then maybe a little farther, as your body stretches/relaxes/whatever. I enjoyed the zoom.

That workshop sounds interesting and fun! I like going to the edge… sometimes. Yoga is such a great gift and life practice. I look forward to being able to share it with my community. Maybe I can lead some workshops someday, too!

What is going well ? Surrendering in prayer is what is going on right now. I don’t know how else it put it. The only thing I can do right now is to surrender.

Today we have beautiful weather in the Netherlands. This morning I saw the sun rise again. That moment always fills me with gratitude. Back home I enjoy a cup of coffee and feel very relaxed. I then am very much looking forward to the day with a feeling of gratitude. Today will be a day with lots of music with friends. Yes, right now things are going really well and I feel grateful. I know that there is also a sad moment every day and that’s good too. All is well.
