    It is a practice for me, and the change is gradual. I do find myself taking more opportunities for joy and for what I value. As an experience, I sometimes feel my grief breaking open, and feel the gratitude of being alive, of all that I have.

    I am still learning and trying to be more aware of living gratefully. I do look forward to coming to this site and what everyone shares : ). It is helping a lot with my current struggle with my daughter. The situation has improved and for that I am grateful. I have hope and my faith that help me get through each day right now.

    It has changed it all. Greeting the world with the gratitude meditation once offered here was for example a 3- weeks pleasure, inviting to intensify being alert to many moments of possibility to be grateful. For me, it was an amplifyer to enter into this loving perspective much more often, and especially when moments might be difficult, offering peace. Gratefulness and joy has replaced sadness, which often had darkened my moods and life, so that by just being grateful often, its lightful energy spreads to others also.

    I am much more appreciative of all, everything; the good, the not so good. I feel better equipped to take each day as it comes in stride. I guess in many ways being grateful has shown me how to be lighter, not take it all so seriously, to focus on the beauty of all, savor & relish it. There is much to be grateful for in my life, I am blessed.

    This practice is helping me to be a little more positive, a little more hopeful, a little more grateful, a little more present, a little more accepting, and more aware of just how lucky I am and how fleeting this life is.
    I am so grateful that this truly wonderful resource came to me when it did.

    Living gratefully keeps me present and helps me remember that there is always something to be grateful for – even on the not-s0-good days. I met a lady several years ago who said something like, “if you can’t find anything to be grateful for, be grateful you have toilet paper.” I’ll never forget that. And I always try to greet the world the way I want it to greet me – with joy, a smile, and hope.

    I’m not sure that I’m living from gratitude. Coming here everyday has expanded my understanding and the underlying influences and experience of gratitude. Maybe I’m reminded to look for the treasure. This brings forward happiness. If I am in the throws of happiness then I am more accepting of what is.

    Profoundly! Before, I started living gratefully, I tended to accent the negative and turn a difficult situation into a problem. I feared failure so much that I missed out on many opportunities. Living gratefully helps me to be present and greet and treat myself and others with compassion.

    Dramatically . . .
    my desk is littered with the smaller things . . .
    a twisted knot from a tree,
    a tiny porcelain cat on a cushion,
    a little wire angel,
    a stone in the shape of a heart,
    a little bisque candle holder with dandelions,
    an old tin butterfly pin,
    a post card from a friend across the sea . . .
    a resin fox,
    a pencil sharpener & a bottle of India ink,
    a small St. Francis plaque . . .
    little things
    that remind me
    of the wonders to be found in the world.
    Every day
    holds the promise of new surprises.

    Gratefulness, which I think of as joyful mindfulness, makes space so that everything has the potentiality for awesomeness. It’s fueled optimism, hopefulness, and awakeness. It helps to take drudgery out of discipline. I’m learning that I get to practice, not that I have to practice. I’m grateful for this revelation.

    I have always worked and lived out of doors. A bad weather day outside is better than any good day inside. My practice of mindfulness, gratitude, meditation and the acknowledgement of impermanence has helped me to have much more stability in life rather than the chaos I can create in active addiction. It has helped me to slow down and notice the goodness in life and the inherent goodness of most of mankind. For this and the conversations that are shared on this site I am grateful. So are my loved ones grateful that I have found this philosophy of life.

    In so many ways! Attitude is everything, and many years ago I changed my attitude when I happened on this website. Taking a minute to just take a deep breath and think of something in any situation that I am in makes all the difference. Sometimes it is as simple as knowing nothing is permanent. This situation will not last forever, and that changes how I see things.
    One of the ways I did this four years ago was to name our new puppy Joy. It worked out really well because the women who helped us find her was named Joy, but that was not the real reason I wanted her named Joy-it was because I wanted to wake up every morning and say,”Good Morning, Joy!” It has made all the difference, especially after a night with insomnia. I still smile after all this time when I say that…..even when we are in the yard and I call her, it is “Here Joy!” This has been one of the best things I did for myself, ever.

      Mary Pat, Your post reminds me that I have a neighbor, a beautiful and caring young woman whose name is Jamie Joy. When I met her, just hearing her introduce herself as “Jamie Joy” left me smiling. Such a loving energy permeated the air! Joy is such a wonderful name for your pet. Oh and your reference to impermanence makes me think of a dear friend, Sr. Macrina Wiederkehr (RIP) who use to say, “The only thing permanent is change.” I deeply appreciate and am grateful for the wisdom you share on this site.

      I have a friend, Anne, who also named her dog Joy for similar reasons. Joy was rescued from a puppy mill and Anne gave her a wonderful life. I took care of Joy for a few hours shortly after Anne got her. I took Joy for a walk and she got away from me. I was so scared that she would get lost or hit by a car. I never ran so fast or prayed so hard after I chased after her. I arrived home to get help from my husband. As I pounded on my front door, Joy circled around from my backyard to where I was standing. Even though she had never been to my house before she found her way back there looking for her new mom. That was a huge blessing to me as I would have a hard time explaining this to my friend. My friend is a woman of faith and amazingly she actually let me watch her again.

    Gratefulness helps me to pay attention to all of the blessing around me all the time.
    For example, I am currently living in a peaceful country. I pray deeply that this will continue to be so. It’s amazing that we actually don’t notice peace around us all the time. Being I’m in Europe right now there are news flashes about the Eminem threats of war. I try each moment to see the blessing of the peace we share.

    I’m still learning to living gratefully but I’ve noticed I see more things in life like the daily quote says today.
    I’m more amazed than in the past by the changing colours of the sky, the different shapes of the moon or the leaves (I’ve really enjoyed the many pictures on the lounge these days!!). I give more importance to the time I spend with the people I love, I’m more aware of the food I eat. I find out that if I go slowly on my routine and I try to be present on what I’m doing, I have more time to do what needs to be done because my mindset is changing with the look I give to the world.
    I feel that living gratefully makes me feel, see and receive more!
