I practice gratefulness everyday by enjoying the simple lifestyle and appreciating the part-time piano jobs I currently have while they last. For the jobs I have, I just get paid to play the piano and go home. There’s no need to worry about what and how to say/treat co-workers or bosses.
If you haven’t read my reflection from yesterday,
which was posted late, I ask that you go back and read it.
I would feel better if everyone here knew about it.
Thank you.
Mary
I am grateful each morning to awaken to another day. My routine brings me to my table for meditation, journaling, and visiting this site before doing anything else (other than feeding the pups and letting them outside). And as the day goes on, because of how long this practice has been a part of my life, I notice more. I smile more. I honor those I come in contact with.
This morning, I am particularly grateful for my yoga practice and where it has brought me. I am so in love with the studio I’ve been going to and grateful for the opportunity to do some trade work with them. I’ve been meeting people, starting to feel a sense of community, and I made my first friend in Charlotte. My word for this year is FLOURISH, and I am feeling it. Onward!
Hello All, I have been skiing in the wilds of Canada and have returned home after a pretty harrowing drive yesterday. I had many opportunities to be grateful on our drive yesterday; my husband’s skilled driving, his willingness to adjust for my comfort level, the absolutely incredible awe I have for nature’s power and artistry, not being involved in an accident that turned us around to seek an alternate route. Whew! Grateful to be back with you all today.
On a daily basis, coming to this website most mornings is a grounding to begin the day with gratitude and appreciation. Throughout the day, pausing to be with what is provides me with the best opportunity to allow gratefulness to rise up, again and again.
First of all, I want to lovingly call attention to the Audre Lord quote from the Word of the Day, “As they become known to and accepted by us, our feelings and the honest exploration of them become sanctuaries and spawning grounds for the most radical and daring of ideas.” I am deeply moved by that this morning. We live in a society of suppression and explosion instead of allowing our emotions to arise, inform, and dissipate. I have shared the Rumi poem “The Guest House,” in this space. Here is a link if you’d like to check it out: https://grateful.org/resource/guest-house-rumi/. I believe honoring emotions is inherently tied to perpetual gratefulness. When I started this journey, gratefulness was a task. Now, gratefulness is a feeling. I feel it fluttering in my heart. It calls me to express in words in our community. Because I let myself steep a little day, I am becoming drenched. Hopefully, with more time, I’ll go around dripping gratefulness, and its twin-sister joy, wherever I set foot.
I practice living gratefully daily by observing blessings in every occurrence during the day. Last week, I typically went to school by mobility bus. The bus can be scheduled every 15 minutes, and the system will call me automatically 10 minutes before the bus arrives. I wanted to get home a bit earlier. Instead of scheduling the bus at 2:15 for my class ended at 2:00, I scheduled the bus to be there by 2:00. By the time I got to the door, the bus left because the driver didn’t see me. Well, I must schedule another bus which will let me wait about 1 hour and a half to be home. I was frustrated about this. I sat down, playing with my phone. There was a man who asked me if there was anyone he could talk to. I asked if it was his first time on this campus. He said yes, and it’s because he wants to be a student here. I walked him down to the front desk on the other side of the building. I thought that if I got home early, I may have missed a chance to help others which is what I enjoy doing. I’m blessed for the opportunity to be home late. I get home at about 4:30 on that day. I’m happy.

I practice Stop.Look.Go.
Be Present.
With kindness and compassion for all things living, including myself. With a sense of awe, wonderment, deep reverence of the space we live in, earth and this universe, that provides for all life that resides and continuously passes on life. To participate with all the other good folks who share their resilience, wit and wisdom on this site. May all encounter some joy and peace today. Namaste.
By eliminating my human mind full of pictures which are false I become present to this very moment and grace enters like natures flow.
Meditation has made me humble enough to arrive naturally in the here and now and gratefulness arrives like the dawning of a new day.
I have never been a peaceful person before now and even saying this I actually am astounded by how much space of peacefulness is residing in me right now.
I’m humbled by Tuth and I’m so happy and free. Thank you so much for giving us this method. I could have never made it through everything without you/universe/God/Buddha/ emptiness- (Truth does not exist in names ) I love you and you love me and we have never been apart. I can’t thank you enough. 💓🌱💯🙏

I love that gratefulness comes up naturally
when you pause to notice the present moment.

I love that helping this man brought joy to you.
My Ngoc, I remember last Thursday. It all worked out. I’m glad you were able to have a chance to help others.

I live gratefully everyday when I free my heart from hatred, free my mind from worries, live simply, give more, expect less and enjoy every moment.
You beautifully described grateful living.
Thank you EJP.

The last line of your posting makes me think of one of the mahavakyas– the great utterances of Advaita Vedanta–Tat Tvam Asi. Thou Art That.
