I give thanks for this moment, day, the gift of life and all that life has given and gives me now – and to date…. so, ,so, so very much.
I also give thanks to gratefulness.org and all in this community over many years. When/ as I fall away from the practice of gratefulness, I can reliably trust on showing up here, and knowing that I will feel and be connected with the much greater source of love and wise, genuine, supportive human community. Thank you!
What comes to mind immediately is all those who have recorded meditations I can use in my life. The meditations of Ram Dass, Tara Brach, Jack Kornfield, the OM meditations on Youtube, and Sharon Salzberg have all helped me so much, as well as the courses I can access on Tricycle Magazine. I am so thankful for having access to all of these. And of course, for you who have worked on this website to make it accessible to so many of us, 24 hours a day! Thank you so much!
And to all of you who answer the Daily Practice, and who give me insight into things I hadn’t thought of….thank you!
Where can I start ? I have so much I’m thankful for! My cup overflows with the gifts of the universe. I will choose the roof over my head and my safety. It’s late here now and I’m going to bed. I’m so grateful to have a peaceful country with all the resources available. What more could anyone possibly need being we have this amazing precious human life?
To so many kindred people. The landlord carefully looking after the plants here in our garden, being careful with water but giving in a classic water can instead of using a garden hose in order to spare water, covering the ground with low growing plants so that the soil does not loose water. Or the friend who brought food for giving joy to some other friends. To someone I had the luck to get to know a bit today who offers reliable support to people; to you here, reading, and listening.Thank you all dearly!
To Every Person – the source of infinite strength, potential and resiliency. In contrast with the quote for today, I find the strength to prevail and persist in any situation comes from being able and willing to connect and draw support and direction from those around me.
To the writer Steph Jagger for stunning insights in her memoir Everything Left To Remember: My Mother, Our Memories, and a Journey Through The Rocky Mountains. What a gift to receive a fresh perspective on my own bewildering relationship with my beloved mom and a new opening for healing.
Elaine, what a coincidence! I’m in an online women’s community (honeyinthetemple.com) that Steph is part of. I’m looking forward to reading her book–I put in a request at my local library for them to purchase it.
To the Dalai Lama, who says ‘kindness’ is his religion – my son asked me if I would help their long time nanny find a new job, and it is a challenge. She is learning to do more email and not just texting, but I need to remember that it’s easy to expect too much from her. I’m reminded of times when I’d give a seminar at a university, and my schedule would have me visiting the different profs, and they would tell me about their research, and I would nod politely, being basically totally clueless! I think the nanny has that problem with me sometimes.
Everyone who brought me this morning’s cup of coffee, from the people who grew and cared for the plants and picked the beans to those who brought it a long way to the store to my sweetie for getting our groceries and bringing me a hot cup every morning as we sit together to start the day with some quiet conversation. Special thanks to our cat Tiggs (short for Tigger) who has provided extra entertainment this morning pouncing on everything in sight, running around with wild eyes looking for another target, and generally making us laugh, which is a wonderful start to any day.
I’m so lifted by Daisaku Ikeda’s quote:”The confidence to prevail over any problem, the strength to overcome adversity and unbounded hope—all reside within you.” Many years ago, my mentor said to my anxiety ridden self, “There is a part of you that has never been afraid but you must call it forth. I chose to believe him and his words have been proven true. So now, when my heart races, my mind tells me there is no way, I know I’ll be given the strength I need to accept, let go or change. For this I am most grateful.
Me too – I like today’s quote. You’d think I’d know that now, in my 77th year, but I’m still learning and learning and learning. Warm wishes to you – 🙂
Mica, I think we all know it at some level because it’s our birthright but in my experience, I always need reminding from time to time. I have to “Stop, Look, Go” as Br David says. Sometimes we revolve before we continue to evolve. Life is a dance, isn’t it!
My cat Pumpkin. She is curled up on my lap. Sleeping. Giving me warmth. She is also quiet, which is not her normal state.
I am also grateful for this dawn and this little sun room to comfortably experience it in. Thank you Pumpkin and thank you Universe.
friend for listening to me sort out my thoughts, kindness, gurus, when the universe colludes in my favor and the folks who comment on this site and the keepers etc of this site
How might I express my gratitude to the volunteers of Annandale VFD 408 for the help putting out that fire at 3am in the driveway last week? The garden hose was not going to pass muster!
We’re all safe, Mica. The house was untouched, my tomatoes were not a complete loss. Whatever else was insured. The Youniverse is always providing a nudge in one direction or another (to the end of showing where we’re still unconscious). . . . .unless an abrupt shove is necessary
I offer my thanks to hard working health care practitioners, and personally, to the doctor who kept me alive. I offer my thanks to those who run food banks and shelters. I offer my thanks to those who speak truth to power. I offer my thanks to those who nurture, feed and care for the children of the world.
I’m thankful to God for always having my back, and to myself for trusting the process of this life. I was in an accident recently that caused my vehicle to get totaled out, and while that still really sucks, the perfect opportunity arose thru a friend who was about to put her vehicle on the market when she learned of my situation. It’s the same as my old one, just a few years newer. With the way the world is right now, and how very difficult it is to find a good used car at a fair price, I’m so so grateful.
Awesome car outcome, sunnypatti – my car got badly smashed, in its numbered parking space! and I’m relieved to have it all repaired ‘only’ 2.5 months later 🙂
Thanks, sunnypatti – happily, I could drive it but not on the freeway because I wanted cruise control to work. There were crazy problems, but it ended up in the most awesome car repair shop – they were a joy to work with 🙂
Both my wife’s and my cars, both less than 2 years old, were recently totaled. With ongoing supply chain issues, they were worth more with 18K and 11K miles than they were the day we bought them new. How very fortunate to find the option of a replacement, at all
Javier, I was both surprised and grateful when they told me I was getting almost double what Kelly Blue Book had my car valued at. Of course, half of it is paying it off, but it still gave me more to spend than I thought. I’m sorry you had to deal with the same thing.
To the early mornings and their soft light because they teach me that life is a constantly rebirth. There’s always a new day with new opportunities – that encourages me a lot when I’m down.
Looking at the sky that slowly lights up gives me warmth and enthusiasm and I’m endlessly grateful for that so thank you nature, thank you world, thank you universe!

I’m curious, what peaceful country?
Or “peaceful for whom?”

I would like to thank the patients in our hospital. That I am allowed to serve them. Especially today they made me very happy.

Thank you, Carol, and warm wishes to you –
Carol, thanks for sharing. I really like that quote.
Walt, You are most welcome.
The few courageous and caring people that encouraged me to look in the mirror, accept who I saw, and recognize how perfectly imperfect I am.

Gack! That sounds too too exciting, Javier! Om Om
We’re all safe, Mica. The house was untouched, my tomatoes were not a complete loss. Whatever else was insured. The Youniverse is always providing a nudge in one direction or another (to the end of showing where we’re still unconscious). . . . .unless an abrupt shove is necessary
Thank heavens, Javier!
I am grateful for those nudges and all those that share, gotta throw a smile in there too.
I am glad to hear of your safety (and conscious awareness)
For god being here and providing me emotional support. For everyone who has touched my life and made me who I am.

I offer my thanks to those who speak truth to power. I offer my thanks to those who nurture, feed and care for the children of the world.
I am thankful for Jay Shetty and his book Think Like a Monk. Especially for the chapter on Gratitude which ultimately led me here.
I’ve discovered this place thanks to him too!
Bless his soul!!
I offer my thanks to my body, my life and the sustenance of the Holy Spirit
I offer my thanks right now for Yesterday’s me who did the things necessary for me to do be the me Today.
I offer my thanks to mother earth for this beautiful rain shower which waters my garden and the surrounding flowers.
The food on my plate.
I offer my thanks to this website – I’m glad it has become part of my routine for over 4 yrs now. Happy Friday everyone:)

Sunnypath, I love your words: “trusting the process of this life.” I,too, have found life trustworthy.
