I come to rest because I see my wealth and marvel at it
Then, when I find too many blessings, I feel ashamed of so many undeserved gifts and privileges
What remains is a little sadness. And I try to understand why life is so unfair.
But the gratitude for these privileges reasserts itself. A small, mean and selfish relief

Today I am grateful that I have such a wonderful Primary Care Doctor. I have not been feeling well for the last few days…coughing, sneezing, aches and pains. My husband said to me this morning…You need to call the doctor…No, I said; I will be better tomorrow. Well long story short – my husband called as I have laryngitis (it is a good day for my husband!!)….I had a 102.6 temp at the Doc’s…so “no it is not allergies”. I am so grateful for the Blessing to see a physician…and how has that Blessing changed me….I am feeling better…and can even smile a bit. So many Blessings in my life and I am so very grateful. All of you are indeed a wonderful Blessing . I feel better every day coming here and reading everyone’s thoughts. Thank you.

Everything changes. My outlook on life, my happiness level, my demeanor, and the way I treat others and respond to life’s tribulations. Apparently it has also changed my appearance. I saw an old friend yesterday and she said “I would not have recognized you.” I asked my husband if he thought my appearance had changed and he responded “yes, you’re more mellow.”

Well said, Dolores. Our attitude is so contageous. It has an affect on us inside, outside, and around us.

There is in me a movement from scarcity to abundance when I count my blessings.

When I count my blessings, nothing
    actually changes. My problems and
    challenge are still there.
    But, my perception has changed.
And, as it turns out, perception is
important. How I choose to see my
world and react to circumstances, is
a choice. It’s not automatic, with me, so
I have to practice and flex my gratitude
muscle. Things aren’t so fixed, as I thought
    they were.

“Things aren’t so fixed, as I thought they were.” Thank you for that string of words, Charlie T. I experience this same thought stream once in a while myself.

Sunnypatti, I’ve noticed that in myself too. I have more energy, and my body feels lighter.

When I count my blessings, the desire for things I want decreases and sometimes even disappears. Instead, a sense of thankfulness grows.

Great answer, my Ngoc. The more grateful for what we have, the less we desire for what we don’t have. When it all adds up, we become happier. Love you.

Counting my blessings results in a calmer mind, better perspective and full heart.

Deann, it sure does. I’ve certainly noticed that in myself as well. My mind and heart open up. I can think and come up with solutions to solve problems faster and give, receive, and appreciate in many different forms.

When I count my blessings, I feel a deep sense of appreciation and « enough-ness ». Lynne Twist writes that « what we appreciate, appreciates ». A sense of expansiveness of the goodness in my life is a natural outgrowth of intentionally focusing on my blessings.

Joseph, same here. It’s very easy to forget, throw piddy parties, and make ponds out of puddles.

I slow down, breathe deeply, consciously give thanks that I am here in this moment. It could have been otherwise.
